| Newbie | I have an 01 750 gsxr. The clutch has slowly begun to relase higher and higher. I first replaced the friction plates, with no difference. Next, i did the clutch discs, still, minimal change. I have now put in a clutch cable and the clutch still seems to engage way too high. i have adjusted the cable on the case and at the bar. The only way i can get the clutch to begin to slip at a lower lever position is to have a ton of free play in the cable. This only simulates what i am tryin to achieve by bringing the clutch lever closer to the bars. I want the lever to feel smooth and tight again. What's going on, I thought i had changed everything out. All thats left is the clutch pressure disc. Is this a common problem? |

| No Significant Other ![]() | I'm not sure if this is a common problem with the gixxers. The stock clutch springs could be geting weak after 7 years. You may want to look at replacing them with new or even after market springs.

| Newbie | now that you mention it, when i changed out the plates this last time, i swapped out the springs because i didnt like the lever feel... duhhh.. stiffer springs will mean more room to obtain the friction zone im looking for... hopefully this takes care of it... id like to just ride the damn thing for a bit |

| Stiffer springs won't help the lever position. If your clutch is not slipping the springs are already adequate. If it is rough feeling, try cleaning and lubricating the actuating mechanism down by the case. It can get gritty and sticky in there. I don't think there was anything wrong with your clutch or cable. Sounds normal for it to engage higher as the plates wear. That's why the cable is adjustable.
