Well the title pretty much says it. I have bought the service manual, the valve adjustment tool and took a stab at it. It was pretty easy, every valve was too tight except for one set of intake valves on the rear (1st) cylinder. The exhaust valves on both and the intake on the front (2nd) cylinder were too tight I could not fit the measuring shim in the gap. The manual does not tell you to remove the throttle body but it made it a hell of a lot easier to do the adjustment once the throttle body was off. I just can't see how it can be done with the throttle bodies on. I thiunk I got all the valves adjusted right, the engine seems to be quieter than before, but my question is how can I tell that I indeed do it right? And in case I didn't what would be the effects of not getting it right? I also adjusted my idle (It was idling around 1040, I adjusted it up to 1120) and replaced the final drive gear oil. The engine oil and filter was replaced at the dealer when they replaced the right block side cover due to a scratch at delivery. I could not get the 200-200ml in there though, I don't know if I either had some left in there or it's just not filled to the brim now. I got about 180ml in there. Given that I bought a whole liter of it I guess I'll just replace it every time I replace the motor oil, it seems to be a dirt cheap maintenance item. All that is left now is to tighten some nuts and bolts and I'm good to go until 4k. So back to my original question: How can I tell that I indeed got the valve adjustment right and not got it screwed up? |
