Default 1992- GSXR 750- Backfire ???

Hello, I'm after some assistance please???

When I got my bike, the old pipe seemed to have been bodged up a bit,
from a previous 'drop' I'd say. (MAGNUM pipe)
Silastic, brazing, soldering etc. etc.
I cleaned it up to see damage for myself.

It took an effort to remove, due to all the silastic, and other sealants.
In the process I noticed lower mounting to engine, did not have a bolt
through it, causing excessive movement whilst removing pipe (old).
After I had 're-bodged', repaired pipe, bike was running like a dog through
lower rev-range, even as high as 5000-RPM, till she got her old 'zing' back,
and BACKFIRING quite a lot.

I've since fitted a new pipe, (MegaCycle <-Australian Made), and
resecured lower mounting bolt. (doing this moved lower part of system
1", 25mm closer to motor side, or left-side)

Although she is performing, and sounds a lot healthier, I've still got some
BACKFIRE happening...
OK, now we get to the questions-
Could I have possibly loosened headers @ motor?
Any other possible causes?

any help highly appreciated,
cheers, Paul...
