First ANY help is welcome!!! The bike: 2003 Suzuki Marauder 800 6400 miles, purchased used with 5400 Has been running great since purchase I was driving to work this am and about 1/2 there I took a stab at the throttle and my bike took off like a bat out of hell!! It felt like I had a 1600 not an 800. For a brief moment I thought I was dreaming, then other thoughts came across like maybe the exhaust had something stuck in it or something that was bottling up the bikes power. 1-2 miles later I get a little smoke, and and idle is staying around 2500rpms (estimate) and won't go down to the "normal idle" rpms. So I pull over and see oil on the engine cover on the rear brake side. Just some spots and one small line. I check around and theres was some wetness on the fins and around the front area of the cover but I can't tell where its coming from. I told my Dad about this and he mentioned the head gasket might be blown and it might be running extremely lean (sucking in air from the whole in the gasket?!!) and thats where the increase in power and oil is coming from When I say the bike was faster I mean an EXTREME difference, I always thought the bike was a bit sluggish but it started and ran fine, I always assumed it was because its an 800. Could it lean out and make THAT much more power if the head gasket is blown? Does this sound like a blown head gasket? Sorry for the long post but any info on what you think is wrong would be appreciated! |
