Default 1992 suzuki vs800 starter

I have found it necessary to replace my starter (yse I jumped the relay and nothing happened). my question is where is the starter motor located on a 1992 suzuki vs800?

Default suzuki starter

Thank you very much. Is there anything else that you can think of that I also need to look out for when doing this?

Nope, it's pretty straight forward.

Could possibly be a bad relay. Get a multimeter, and test the voltage from relay->starter, see what it's doing when you try to crank it. Also test the relay itself, see if it's making a solid connection when you try to crank it, you could have a loose wire from relay to starter.

I would also try pulling the starter button and testing it, you should have a solid connection when you push it in, but closed when not. It's a type of switch called a momentary pushbutton, which means it only connects when pushed.

ok I have replaced both the starter and the relay. the engine turns over fine but doesn't "catch" I am putting the battery on a charger tonight but assuming the battery is good (brand new one bought from a dealer) what else should I do if charging the battery alone does not work?
