Default need input

Hi Guys,
Have any of you ever " Split " the cases on a 920 Virago?
The reason I ask is that I am in the process of removing my engine from the frame in order to replace a timing chain and cam shaft, also the owner before me has had the heads off, so I want to inspect the valves and install new gaskets before reassembling, he thinks he is a mechanic and I know he is not, so therefore I want to visually inspect the top end.
I also have an oil leak coming from the bottom center of the engine and am not sure where, there is an electric wire going to something in that general visinity, don't know what it is, I figure it's a low oil level indicator, but again not sure, and if the leak is coming from the cases I want to replace the gasket while I have it down, and I would like to know if I will need any special tools in order to split the cases.
If any of you have suggestions or hints I sure would like to hear them.

many thanks,
Frank aka crazyhorse357
