| Recently a real noticeable rattling has started in my crank case, particularly from the left side (it seems). It is especially noticeable as I'm changing gears or coasting. Sounds like someone left a handful of nuts and bolts in there and they are going crazy! Any suggestions? I've never messed with that part of the bike. Can I take off the crank case cover with relative ease and just take a look? Or will fluids come out everywhere and will I regret even trying myself? Thought I would ask...

| You can pull the cover off with relative ease, but before you do, its a good idea to head to your local dealer or parts source and pick up a gasket. Its likely you will need to drain the oil to do it as well. It sounds like once your in there, you'll see obvious problems. If nothing stands out, check out all the bearings on that side. Any shafts that go through the cases should feel solid and not move around(up,down or side to side) if you try to move them. Not sure if you could fix that yourself but at least save some time and money if you need to take it to the dealer for service. Hope this helps.

| Could be a clutch issue. Does the noise change when you pull in the clutch lever when the bike is sitting still?
