So I just picked up a 94 RF600r in a trade. The bike has new cam wheels? i think that was what it had. Anyways...the bike sat for awhile and like i thought it runs like it needs a good carb clean. However...here is the quirky thing...it backfires when you rev it up, there are new plugs. The gunk in the carbs...should..restrict the gas...and you can smell that it runs rich. It is way under powered, and has significant throttle response delay. There is also a ticking noise coming from the engine. It is a single tick, that get faster as engine rpms get faster. Is this possibly from the automatic cam tensioner out of whack? Lets here what you guys have to say.
