| I laid my bike down in a creek today and water went into my tailpipe. I sat the bike on it's end and drained some water out the pipe and I've taken the plug out 20 times or so and dried it off and replaced it and tried to crank it. I've gotten to turn over a couple of times but it hasn't run continuously yet. Should I be concerned about rust on my piston. What's my next step, maybe have someone pull start me?

| What kind of bike do you have? Is it a 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine?

| If I ran my bike into the creek, I would' ve pulled the plugs and cranked it awhile just to see if there was any water spritzing around. Not before turning off the gas. In all likelihood, there is nothing wrong, however, without pulling the plugs and cranking, one can't know. Not running continously? Sounds carb related, because if it runs at all you have spark, and spark is pretty much there or it isn't. Let's jump to the conclusion, for my sake, that the spark is there. That means the carbs are acting up. If the bike dumped into the creek, how hard? You may have thrown something in the carb out of whack. Lack of fuel, if it isn't running consistently. Me, i'd find a way to pour a small stream of gas down the carb to find out if the bike has fuel problems. Not that I recommend this crazy idea to anybody who isn't willing to ruin (finish) an engine that might be repairable. good luck. |
