| 'allo, I'm looking for some mechanical help and this looks like the best place to start I bought a brand new suzuki gz125 (first bike) in december last year but haven't had a chance to ride it yet. I've had to keep it outside all this time, but it's been well covered up. I checked it's still running every few days, started it up etc, but recently it didn't start up at all. As far as I know the battery is ok, the light's come on no problem. At first I thought it might be out of fuel, there wasn't a lot in it when I bought it, so I put some more in, but so far that hasn't helped. When it first happened it tried to start up but just failed, but as I've tried more times it sounds like it doesn't even attempt to start, kinda fizzles. Now the weathers improved I really wanna get on it and start riding, I would see a mechanic but I've got a feeling it might be something simple that's not working, and unfortunatly I'm new to the world of biking and not a great mechanic, I don't wanna start messing around with it without any idea of what to do. If any one can help me out I'd be really grateful, and I apologize if this question's been asked a million times, I've had a quick look through the forums but couldn't find any thing. Thanks for reading, ta ra! **Edit** I just read on another page about the fuel becoming "dirty" and clogging up the pipes, I dunno if this is a likely problem, it has been sat outside for a while... | Does the engine turn over but not start? If the engine does not turn over it could be a bad ground or the battery is shot due to not being used very often. Give the battery a good charge and retry. There should be a screw on the bottom of the carb float bowl to drain the fuel.

| Drew If you bought the bike brand new its under warrenty and if you ran it regularly to keep it in good condition while the weather improved it should not have any major problems, after all its only two months yes??? Check the fuel bowl/s by all means but before you go doing anything more ring the dealer and get his opinion. If you have done the right thing he is obligated to come and fix the problem. Here in Aus I had a brand new Harley a few years back that failed to start..turned out to have dropped a valve...yes! brand new and a valve down the hole did some horrific damage I can tell you... and they came and picked the bike up and fixed it at their cost. Now I'm not saying yours is anything like that but before you diddle you should check up to see what the dealer is willing to do for you. Steve

| Hi I would also suggest to contact the dealer from where you bought before trying yurself anything on the bike at least for an year (until the original warranty) let the dealership work on your bike. When you try to start do the lights remain bright or fade. Because I had a similar problem. After seven months the battery died just like that. I hope the spark plug cable is in place properly. |
