| my odometer went out recently. the trip meter, odometer, and speedometer all quit. what could this be...could it be the gear box assembly, the cable, or something entirely different? thanks

| Probably the speedometer cable broke. On my old GPz550, there was a kink in the cable housing and this was resulting in the inner cable breaking off.

| Thanks...before it quit working,there was a high pitched whining sound that come from the front wheel. It immediately stopped when the odometer quit. I took the cable out on the odometer end and it looked OK...perhaps I should check out the other end?

| the small plastic gear (that's right plastic) on the axle end probably went. And your bike is what with how many miles? (did I miss something?) Good news/bad news, boneyards have parts available, but if it is a design flaw, the used one you find may not be much better than what you have. These cables can be rather fickle, by the way. |
