Default 1999 maurader 800 exaust modifications?bike too quiet

hi there guys,i'm very new to motorcycling,just bought 800 maurader today.its too quiet.i dont want it loud like some harleys though.can i take baffles out of stock pipes?if i do should the carbs be rejetted?or should i save my pennies and get a aftermarket exaust system that has jets included?thanks jason

Go to my website and check out the article on modifying the stock exhaust. The instructions are for the Intruder, but the Maurader should be very similar, as the Maurader motor is a modified Intruder motor. Basically, you can drill holes in the baffles to increase noise, but if you remove them the bike will be obnoxiously loud and you will have to re-jet.

i followed your instructions to modify my marauder exaust. there was a baffle about 4 to 5'" from end of pipes i drilled the 3 holes in them and drilled 1/2"in the rest right down the middle.its not much louder than before?i cant hear them with a full face helmet at wide open throttle.what deid i do wrong? what else to do?thanks
