Default 3rd gear gone bad?

i have an '02 gsxr 600 and when shifting from second to third it takes me like three or four clicks up to get it to go into gear. the same for going down from fourth to third. the only thing is when im on it hard it shifts perfect. its just the normal riding where it messes up. is this a big problem and is it going to cost me a lot to fix it.

i have a GSXR600k2 as well and i have the same problem, although mines is when the revs are high.seems to be intermitent.Think it could be damage to the bulkrings between 2nd and 3rd which is stopping the gears slowing down properly when clutch is depressed.thus stopping them engaging.try holding the clutch in for a few seconds before shifting to allow the box to slow down itself to see if this is the fault.Try a thinner oil grade which has helped me.let me know how u get on....cheers

Most likley you have a problem starting with your shift drum, this device locates the shift forks in your transmission. It may be worn, which will later wear out your forks, then add damage to your trans gears. It will only get worse, sorry to rain on your parade, but this is going to cost you some serious coin to get fixed.
