How much could i get for an 81 GS450 that has been garage kept and that only has 8600 miles on it.

The Kelly Blue Book value for this bike is a meager $398 or so, depending on where you live. But if it is in good shape, and running well, you should be able to get more because it shows so few miles. Personally, I'd put it on EBAY with a $400 starting bid and expect to get more like $800 for it.

ADDED THOUGHTS: I just looked down and saw your post about it not running, and having sat for 8 years. Sitting is death to a motorcycle, and it probably needs the carbs rebuilt (sitting for so long will destroy the floats and gaskets), new fork seals, and a bunch of other work before it will run and be drivable. Someone might want it for a parts bike, or a mechanic-type might want a project bike that they will turn around and sell for $800, so they might give you $100-200 for it if you are lucky.
