Default Strong Gas Smell from the gas cap on my 03 GSX-R 750

Has anyone had a strong gas smell coming from the gas cap? I did not over fill the tank, and it seems really strong for gas venting from the tank. I can't seem to get the same answer twice on tihs one. Thanks

the tank is supose to vent, when ever I put my lid over the filler, when closed, then put my helmet back on, it really smelled strong of gas. In my opinion, it's nothing to worry about, unless you are getting liquid where it shouldn't be. My 02 gixxer 750 did it amd y 02 gixxer 1000 does it. Mainly just make sure that the seals are in good shape with no visable damage to them.

do you do alot of hard riding or wheelies? that can cause the smell(gas sloshing around and out the vent). also lift the tank and make sure that the tank spill hose is connected. if it popped off the gas is dripping on the motor and not to the ground like intended.

No I don't do wheeles or ride hard. I did check the overfill hose and all is ok. I was thinking of replacing the gas cap assembly, but I hate trouble shooting by swapping out parts. Thanks
