| Newbie | hey... i got a question for the experienced mechanic and experienced riders.... ive been riding my 2001 hayabusa for 2 almost 3 years now, and i was wonder how hard you guys thought it would be for me to make it into a strict drag bike. ive already priced the items and im just waiting for the money to order them. i'm planning on putting a +4" swing arm on, stage 2 mr. turbo street/strip kit, lowering links, bigger sprocket in rear, water cooler, intercooler, direct port nitrous oxide, pc2, turbo pistons, cams, cam sprockets, bigger throttle bodies, quick shifter, upgraded fuel lines, bigger injectors, and if it wants to still do wheelies being lowered and having a longer swing arm... i might have to make some wheelie bars for it... but what do you guys think of this idea? and how much time and how hard would it be?im going to MMI in the spring.. so as i gain the knowledge, i will use it on my bike from my point of view, the hardest thing is going to be getting it timed and everything torqued down properly. its all easy work if you ask me. anyway.. leave me some idea's.. and if you all can think of any other goodies.. let me know. im not buying the stuff... my sponsor is. so anything that will make it go faster im willing to listen. thanks -craig |

| Site Wrench Head ![]() | If you have a sponser, I'm sure you already know, make sure that the cams you get are compatable with nos. I think you will have to get some wheelie bars for it, with the amount of power you will be making, the front end will come up nomatter what you do. Have you been drag racing for long? Are you on ashphult or dirt?

| Newbie | ive been on pavement my whole riding time.. had a durtbike back in my childhood.. but moved up to bikes at 16. i found some highperformance valve springs, they come in a set of 16 for $100 which isnt to bad. i was looking at Cometic's website and they have a steel head gasket. which i will need because hopefully ill be pushing over 450 hp. i found directions on how to make a wheelie bar. im printing them off right now. ALOT easier than what i thought it was going to be. DYNA makes an awesome kit for a shift light that i can hook right up to the air shifter or Nitrous. i also found a 250/70 ZR 17 for the Hayabusa from Spyderracing. look's like an awesome deal. im going to try to get ahold of them Monday to see how much they want for it, because their online catalog isnt working right now. i think the only problem im going to have is hiding the NOS botol, PC2, air shifter pump, and water pump for the turbo. i think ill just set the NOS up as high as it'll go in the rear tail, and then have the PC2 mounted under it. and the water pump will just have to go up in front by the turbo. the Air shifter pump is the only thing that im having trouble with now and i think that pump will just be mounted in the rear fairings somewhere where there is enough room. I was reading, and i wouldnt even have to shift at all, which will be really awesome. I can hook that shift light right up and have it come on at like 11,000 RPM's and when that light hits and the nitrous goes, the motor will then kick off for a milisecond and shift for me. ummm cant think of much more right now to say. that 270 tire will be awesome for racing because its so wide and flat, so i wont have to worry to much about losing grip when the nos hits, and the wheelie bar hopefully will be less than 2 inches off the ground, but im going to make it to where it can be taken off when coming out of the trailer and for storage purposes. let me know if you all can think of anything else... ive got pretty much everything covered.. just cant wait for the work, its going to be exciting! but the 8 seconds will be much better.. and it'll all be paid off... later guys
