Default Wiring Diagram for 2002 Katana 600

Hello all,

I hope someone can help me. I have a 2002 Katana 600. I have an open circuit now that continues to pop my main fuse. I have found (one wire) that seems to be (a/the) problem. The problem is that I don't have the wiring diagram for this bike so I don't know what this wire goes to. Can any one help me?

Thanks in advance, and have a Happy New Year.

Lisa

1. What color is the wire?
2. Where is the wire located?
3. Is the bike still under warranty?
4. Remember that sometimes there are loose (not connected) wires in the upper harness for attaching accessories. I have seen those ground out on occasion.

Seems odd that an '02 already has electrical issues, unless it was seriously crashed.

BTW, where are you stationed at?

Ross,

The wire comes off of the Main Fuse box. It is in a 4 wire coupler. I think it was black with a yellow stripe (it is not in front of me).

The bike is no longer under warranty. It has never been crashed.

I am stationed at Ft. Irwin

open circuits don't pop fuses, shorted ones do. I wish you the best of luck with it.

You don't mention if the fuse blows as soon as it is installed or not until the key is turned on or while you are riding it.

If the fuse blows as soon as it is installed, is the battery installed backwards, it is possible in a Katana.

If the fuse blows when the key is on, check the wiring where the harness comes out in front of the frame near the headstock

If the Main fuse blows while riding, is it when anything is powered up such as the turn signals.

How to find a short:
1 take it to the dealer
2. Mark all connections such as lights, horn rad fan etc and uplug one at a time until the problem ceases
3 Take it to the dealer

GSX have been around for a long time and have few problems that are design. Have you added any crap such as neon, and alarm radar detector, start there.

Good luck,

E
