| I have a 2001 katana 750.The front tire is a120-70-17, and the rear is a 150-70-17.I would like a rear tire that has a wider tread area. What kind tire is the best, that wont affect the handling. |

Oh yeah, if you must get a wider tire, a 160/60/17 will fit in back. Don't go any wider on the stock rim.

| Yup. A little reading in Proficient Motorcycling will show you why the rear tire is what turns the bike. Mess with it and it messes with you.

| Site Wrench Head ![]() | I will agree for the most part, the wider tire does help the rear from spinning. It's not that the narrower tire "handles" better, so much as it makes the bike more flickable, faster drop into the corners. I think of handling as the ability to keep traction, the wider tire takes more skill and effort to turn, mind you, hight G forces " can " be reached with more rubber on the ground. Stick to the stock tire on your Katana if you know how to ride. If you want to be a poser and just like the "looks" of the wider tire, I have no advise for you. LMAO
