Default carb cleaners..

I have a 1988 katana GSX600J

are carb cleaners safe to use on my carbs?

if i get one of those that go in the gas.. and just runs through the system, will it do anything bad to any to rubber parts (if i have any)

what are the best ones.. and if it doesnt go in the gas.. what kind are best?

I suggest Seafoam in the gas. If that doesn't do it (after a good long ride), you'll have to disassemble the carbs and clean them up.

thanks, seaform sounds pretty good.. i will put some in next time i ride... (waiting for some parts) i hope that with new exhaust gaskets clear up the delay in rev, and the exhaust loading up..

many people that work on bikes around my parts i have asked and have hear and felt the loading up.. etc says my carbs need a cleaning.. but i read on internet that the rubber diaphasms might have a hole if the bike revs up slow... the idle also cuts off after it is warmed up..

any ideas of what else it would be... or is it just.. get the copper donuts on and run some seaform though and see what happens after that..

umm, hard to explain.. 'loading up' was one to the terms someone that looked at it called it..

to me it bogs down for a second before reving up.. its like a delay.. but the exhaust pops a little.. not a backfiring.. or a missing.. more like a growelling.. if that makes any sense.. i have been told it could be a jetting problem with the exhaust (exhaust not stock).. or the carbs needing to be cleaned..

keep in mind that new copper exhaust gaskets are on the way so that could fix some of the problem right there..
