Let me give Hama-san a bump here and see if we can actually get an answer to the question. To rephrase for my friend; Samurai just started using Maxima Chain Wax on his retro-looking Suzuki ST250E, and although he sometimes takes some longish rides, he stays on side roads and at relatively low speeds - figure 60mph and lower. He has some buddies who ride bigger sports bikes, and they are more prone to the high speed day long rides. They are interested in the durability of the chain wax for such riding.

Blade actually answered the question, indicating a blown chain at 5k miles -but he didn't mention his maintenance intervals in those 5k miles. Bayside bought a Nighthawk apparently suffering from poor chain maintenance, so really can't make a call based on that.

Anyone else have experience with a) chain wax b) on a sport bike and c) longer high speed rides?

Yes and no.

I used to use spray on chain lube.
Then I had three different shaft drive bikes.

Now back to a chain and I love my pro Oiler, thread linked here.

So, Karl - the question would be... when you were using chain wax - what type of riding were you doing and how did that relate to the durability of the chain wax v. other lubes?

thanks for the great feedback guys. o-ring chain lube choices have perplexed me for too long now. have been using STP chain lube because of the availability. slings a little but seems to attract a lot of grit and grime. it's a lithium grease based product. might opt for some dry lube... think someone said honda lube?
