| Formerly Rice Burner ![]() | The meter with orange colored indicator is the current, that blocks the odometer when cruising at a speed 50~60 km/h. I want to modify something like the 2nd photo shows (if the press fitted bezel can successfully be opened). Question: Is a funny triangle at the other end of the indicator a functional piece for counterbalance or something? Is it Ok to cut this off? My concern is the indicator to shake or not after cutting off the piece. Last edited by Samurai; 05-21-2006 at 01:40 AM. |

| Hmmm - hadn't thought of that when you shared this idea with me through email. The indicator on my C50 is not that awful triangle, but it does have a bit that extends the other direction, and it is much thicker than the "pointy" end, so perhaps there is something of a counterbalance effect. On the other hand, I would think that so long as the needle is firmly attached, it's not going to vibrate anymore than if that extension were there.

| Muscle Biker ![]() | I doubt it is a counter-balance or anything like that. It's probably just cosmetics. Here's how my speedo looks ... ![]() BTW, I don't think that there should be much problem to open the speedo case - in eBay there are plenty of offers for replacement speedo backgrounds. If you have a good ink-jet printer and are somewhat artistic, you could create your own speedo "scale". All you need to know is the dimensions (easy to measure) and the angle for each increment (also easy to measure), and have a good hand with PhotoShop. You could then "bling" your speedo with a custom foil...

| Formerly Rice Burner ![]() | C50tiger: Thank you for your prompt response as usual. That awful triangle, I wished the designer would have had a bit better 'Kansei'. Oh - Did you get a new car? Are you satisfied with it? inspiron: Thank you. Will try to find a better background in eBay. Enjoyed your HP, blog and LiveJournal - reminded me that I have not updated for over a year.
