Default Rattleing Head

I have an 82 yamaha 650 Maxim with 28,000 miles on it.

The head makes a loud rattling vibration noise at about 5,500 RPM's. I'm thinking I should check vavle guides and replace them. I heard it could also be clearence and then I would have to buy some clearance shimms. At this point I think I should rebuild the whole head with new everything. What do you guys think?

28,000 miles isn't really enough to call for a rebuild, but the age might be. I'd start by checking the valves. If they're way off, you'll know what the problem is.

I checked the valve clearance in all the valves. They were all good except the far right cylinder, both of it's valves are too tight.

It just so happens that this cylinder is either burning oil or running rich. the spark plug was very black. When I look in the plug hole the piston is wet with what looks like oil. And some times during a cold start it shows a little bit of smoke from that exhaust pipe. I just installed new piston rings in all cylinders so I think it is leaking oil from the valve seat.
