Default Engine Stalls Out

Hello all,

I have a 94 Suzuki RF600R with 7900 mles on it. It has new plugs and a fresh oil change. My issue is that it idles very low and sometimes to the point of stalling itself out just sitting there. I have tried adjusting it with the idle control which seems to make a difference sometimes and not others. My biggest concern happens when I have reached a complete stop and in first gear or neutral. I could even be coasting with the clutch in and the same thing happens. The rpms drop to within a couple hundred and the bike dies out. If I choke it before it dies it does help bring the rpm's back up once I close the choke. I have checked all the fuel lines, carbs look good, and nothing seems to be sticking. Just not sure what else it could be. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

When you said the carbs look good what did you check on them? Sounds like that is where your problem is comming from. Check make sure you are getting good air flow to them.

I guess I didnt really check them other than to see if they were sticking or all mucked up. I was also wondering if it could possibly be a vaccum leak? I just started it after sitting all night. No issues starting,(idled at about 1000 rpms) rode it for about 2 miles and it wanted to die at each stop light(Choke closed and with rpms under 500). Got it back home and shut her down for about 10 minutes. Restarted and with the choke closed it idled right at 3000 rpm's. I then proceeded to open the choke and the rpm's actually dropped down to around 1800. I then closed the choke and rpms went back up. It appears to be backwards When I got the bike and before I started messing with the idle control, I did notice that it idled around 2500 to 3000 which I thought was alittle high and is why I stated messing with it.

Thanks

Sounds like either clogged carbs or a vacuum issue. Try running a dose of Seafoam through the gas and giving it a good ride, then pull the carbs and clean them thoroughly.

Well I tore the thing apart last night and found 3 vaccum leaks. Problem fixed and she is running good now. Thanks again

3 of the 4 clamps on the front side of the motor leading into the carbs were just hanging in the wind. I dont know if they (dealer) had those loose when they changed the oil and plugs, but from what I saw their is no reason for those to be loose when doing this. Clamps on the airbox/carbs were nice and tight.
