Default Brake pads

Searched, couldn't find any info on changing pads. They look pretty easy, two bolts on the rear caliper, then one to let it swing down.

The front looks like two bolts per caliper, and they should pull right up off the rotor and clear the wheel.

Is there anything I'm missing? Any special tricks to changing pads on a bike? I'm hoping Nut will chime in, I know he knows how to do it.

Thanks all - Chris

You'll have to carefully compress the pistons, like any brake job. The good news is that bike pads are much thinner than car pads. Just take your time so you don't warp the rotors.

Thanks Clint. I took the cover off of the front calipers today and the fronts actually look okay. I didn't check the rear as I didn't have a mirror with me (cover is underneath, NO way to get down that low to check them :p ) but I'm sure if the fronts are good then the rears are too.

Default S40 Suzuki Boulavard Brakes

Dr. Bob,

I was reading quite a few threads with respect to squeaky brakes. It's apparent that all "S" series Boulevards (and should I say all Suzuki Boulevards) OEM pads are extremely noisy.

In your thread you mentioned that you utilized the EBC non sintered pads with the original OEM rotor. Would that be the organic pads?

My pads are worn and need to be replaced. I got about 3000 miles on the OEM pads. Me and the wife were beginners at the game and my wife had a real hard time with starts and stops without popping the clutch so I had her practice for hours. Needless to say the brakes took a beating. As well the squeaking drove me nuts and so I'd apply the brake harder…it seemed to alleviate the noise. Not sure how long they should last however being that its my first bike and all.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your input,

Denis
