| Newbie | new member with a question or two i have been a long time fan of suzuki bikes ive owned 2 katanas 750's and a crazy little ls 650 savage. my father has had his 99 marauder for 2 seasons and i just loved everything about the bike. so it took 2 years for me to find the one i wanted which is a 97 marauder. well my pops has cobra drag pipes on his 99 and doesnt like it being so loud and he would like to swap the complete exhauste with me mine has an after market exhaust on it but i dont know which it is cant find any names anywhere but isnt the same as a stock at all. which is fine with me cause i would like to get the hard krome 2 1/2 strippers which they dont offer for the 97. my question to everyone is can you swap exhaustes from a 97 to a 99 ??? everthing looks to bolt up the same (headers, rear mounting bracket, will have to change the right side pivot bolt cover to a 99). if it will work will it mess up my carb adjustment or his.

| Newbie | the only difference that i can see between the two sitting side by side is the rear header pipe. its shape is the only thing different both pipes besides bolting to the head the rear bolting location on both bikes are the same. my 97 has a chrome cylinder tool kit where my pops 99 rear head pipe comes through which will have to go. the only thing im not really sure of is if the rear head pipe mounting flange and will bolt up to the head and seal or even if they have the same exhauste gasket. if i knew what part number was on both bikes for exhauste gaskets that may tell the story. im pretty sure everything else will work out just fine

| well you can always try it. if it works it works. I'm sure the exhaust gaskets are probably the same. check out bikebandit.com for part #'s. The little tool area is in the way, but I suppose as long as everthing else is the same and you got rid of that then maybe it will work.

| Newbie | cannot seem to get into those forums for some reason. pops is driving me crazy wanting to do the swap. hes really into that little tool kit for some reason. i just want to be able to put a nice set of pipes on my ride nothing more. dont really care about all the chrome just want it loud as i can get it around here people just dont pay attention to bikers but if they here us then it seems to help. people drive thru life with blinders on but a little bark seems to wake them up at times

| Newbie | just wanted to let everyone know that the 99 and 97 marauder exhauste is totally compatable they switched over quite nicely as a matter of fact only had to change the right side (brake side) pivot bolt cover and remove the tool cylinder and use the plastic cover that replaces the tool cover to protect the fuel lines and everything else went as planned bolted up perfectly no leaks and best of all i can now order my hard krome pipes for a 99 to go on the first 97. just cant wait for them to arrive. but the cobra drag pipes sound pretty damn good i have to say no baffles tossed them on a shelf never to be heard from again. thanxs for the help and time
