Default Carb Clean - Bike wont start

I just finished cleaning out my carbs. I took it upon myself to take the carbs apart with the help of an online manual @ gsresources.com Got thru it ok, cleaned about 80% of the carb. Before I put the bike all back together I wanted to see if it would start and no luck. Im not 100% the hoses are in the right place. I tried a couple of different things, switching hoses etc, but no luck. Is there anything I could have dont wrong, or need to re-fix? go over again? etc.

Thanks

Did you prime the carbs?

Yes of course. As I turned it to 'prime' I gave it about 10 seconds. Should I have waited longer?

I think my problem might be that I've either put the carbs back together wrong (which I doubt) or that I've not put the right hoses in the right places. I know I should have made a diagram, but I didnt. If anyone knows of a diagram showing where the hoses go, that would be a big help.

Thanks again

Did you accidentally reverse the fuel and vacuum lines?

83 GS550E. Im pretty sure that the fuel line is in the right place. As far as the vacuum lines go, thats where Im confused. Theres a hose with no place to go, and a hole, with no hose. Yes I tried putting 2 and 2 together. But if I connected to two, I would connectthe same holes on the 2 different carbs. AHHHHHH Im so messed up lol.

Thanks

Alright heres the pic, hope this will help in things. Its a little small, just click on it.

Now to the explaination. #62 Connects to the vacuum line on the fuel tap. Where I have marked #1 myself is where the fuel line from the tank goes. The problem is #61. Theres an identical nozzle on the other side (which isnt shown) that doesnt have a line going to it. I have the line hooked up as it is in the diagram(#61) but it doesnt connect to anything. Im going nuts here. If you need more info lemme know.

Thanks so much guys

Im not sure about your gs550 but I had a gs1100 which had vacuum controlled fuel valve. If I would run the carbs dry, I would have to put the manual valve in the prime position and keep it there to start the beast.

Keep your shiny side up!!!!
