| Newbie | My Katana has much power for about 5 minutes of riding, then it begins to starve for fuel. When it starts to loose power, i open the fuel cap, while riding, and it regains it's power within seconds. There is a vent hose coming from carb 1 and 4, and are both clear. Vaccuum hoses look good. (have not used a vaccuum gauge however) I have replaced the fuel cap. All fuel delivery hoses seem to be fine Petcock and screen are clean. Does anyone have any GOOD ideas or suggestions that i might try? I'm stumped, and help would be greatly appreciated. |

| How does the new cap vent? It seems that it must not be working if opening it relieves the vacuum pressure.

| Newbie | So, i thought to myself.... "what are the chances of the new fuel cap being defective?" well, sure enough, the took apart the new cap, and there was an internal peice missing. Now when i turn the tank upside down, it does not leak fuel anymore. However, this did not cure my problem. I just got back from a ride, and it lost its power a bunch of times while riding, and i opened the cap to regain power. Also, 2 times, when i came to a traffic signal, the bike died on me. Still the same exact problem, and i have no clue what to try next. Even the guys at suzuki are stumped. There is something im missing, and i'm not even so sure that the cap is the vent source, or if it could even be a PCV problem. There are two hoses coming from the bottom of the fuel tank, which i dont know there purposes, and also there is a hose going to the fuel sending unit, and i havent the slightest clue why there would be a hose going to that. Obviously the sending unit has wires going to it, but why a hose??? Does anyone by any chance know what thats all about? (It does not have fuel running through it, and if you blow into it, it just blows straight through.... with no bubbling of fuel in the tank or anything. perhaps there is a diaphram in there that is bad? or maybe a vent) Somebody needs to find himself a Book, eyyy??? But, if anyone has any info for me, that would be great. Later all, thanks for reading and for your help. |
