Default Leak from hole

Okay, I adjusted the valves on my '92 750 Suzuki Katana, over tightened one of the valve cover bolts and cracked the valve cover alittle bit. Fixed the valve cover crack with JB Weld. Put valve cover back on, leaked around gasket. Took valve cover off, resealed gasket with liquid gasket, put back on. Now i'm leaking from some hole on the cylinder, right underneath the exhaust. I don't know what the hole is or what it does. Anybody know what this hole is??

Welcome to the forum.

That hole is there to drain water or oil that collects in the sparkplug cavity. It means you have a leak around the sparkplug area. I think you're going to want to buy a new cover. You probably warped it and you'll have a hard time getting it to mate properly.

So you think the cover is causing the leak?

update - i cleaned everything up again, pulled the plugs, cleaned them up (all had a tad of oil at the ends), put them back in, started it up...doesn't look to be leaking out of that hole now. It seems to be leaking out around the gasket now.

think i need to replace the gasket or think its that cover doing something? I also thought maybe i could get away with retorquing the cylinder bolts if i just take off the valve cover...?

Thanks for the info

Well, if the gasket's leaking a new gasket is the obvious first choice. Is it a rubber ring or something else?

Why do you want to retorque the head bolts?

the head gasket is a flat metal type. I just don't want to take the cylinder head off...

Are we talking about the head gasket or the valve cover gasket? You seem to be confusing the two.

i don't think you fully read my post...WAS leaking around the valve gasket, now leaking around the head gasket.

but, anywho, i tracked it back to the spark plug gasket around #3. I applied alittle bit if liquid gasket to the leak in the spark plug hole. I'm going to let it sit and see if it plugs it up. Otherwise, i'll pull the valve cover back off...reseal.
