Bike: 1987 Suzuki Intruder VS700 4K miles
Posts: 4
| I have a 1987 Suzuki Intruder VS700 and my speedometer stopped working. I unscrewed the bottom of speedo cable where it attaches to wheel and I found the inside black cable bottom piece had broken off. I ordered a new speedo cable from Dennis Kirk, part # C2138 which is supposed to fit my bike. My coil housing wasn't broken, just the inner cable. Problem with the Dennis Kirk cable is the screws on each end don't allow you to thread it through the coil housing nor through the 1 1/2 inch long bolt that comes out of the speedometer itself. Unless I'm willing to pay for the entire housing for a new cable from Suzuki (over $50 I think) my only choice seems to be to install this thin black cable replacement without the metal coil housing. This will appear like a huge hole in the bottom of my speedometer with a thin black cable sticking out of the hole traveling down to the wheel. Has anybody else had this same problem? Solutions? Thanks kindly, - kathy moran morank@optonline.net |
