Default 97 gsxr 750 front fairing/headlight bracket

the metal bracket underneath the guages that bolts to the plastic headlight housing is broken, it's been bird-crap style welded by previous owner and the plastic headlight housing is broken on one side. I can clean the metal bracket up and correctly weld on another bracket and use the screw hole on the right side.

Is this a common problem for that bracket/plastic housing to break under normal use? the new headlight housings are expensive and I don't really want to buy one if it's just going to break again. is there something aftermarket or something I can fabricate to fix this? I'm a mechanic and have access to all kinds of light metalworking stuff. I have a friend that's a parts manager at a suzuki dealership and even at his price the housing is expensive.

thanks

Im unsure if its the same bracket but can you move the front fairing with headlight in it if it isnt that stable cause of the broken tabs. If thats the problem then its common from what i seen my old bike the tabs was broken they can easily break from doing wheelies cause if you dont land them down easily then they break and from what ive seen people dont fix them. My old bike was like that when i got it wasnt really a big deal to me cause i didnt do wheelies or anything on that bike.
