| Just put the tank back on my Katana and I noticed two of the vacuum hoses that I hooked up to the tank don't connnect to anything else. They are just hanging there. I'd try to hook them back up if I knew what they were for... There are the two fuel lines to the petcock, a vacuum line to the petcock [from the carb?], the electrical connection to the fuel level sender, AND then there are these two OTHER hoses. Does anyone know what they are for, and where they go?? I can't tell you if my bike runs without them connected because the battery is dead at the moment. I took the tank off to replace the choke cable, but I let the bike sit for a few months in the process.... |

| Clunked into first gear ![]() | If the hoses are attached to the tank only, not the petcock, then they are most likely "overflow" hoses for both your standard tank and your reserve bladder. If that IS the case, absolutely DO NOT leave them off, or you very well may cause a fire if you happen to overfill your tank or pressure builds up in the tank while your engine is hot. One easy way to know about the tank overflow is to open the gas cap and look at the opening. There should be a small hole just under the cap that is there in the event of the tank overfilling. It is usually run through the tank and out to the ground. The reserve pressure vent hose is much harder to locate without taking the tank apart. Hope this helps. Good luck!
