I have 1997 Marauder VZ800 with a lot of exhaust rattling noise (stock OE exhaust). It is most noticeable when the bike is cold...once there is some 'heat' in the pipes the noise seems to mostly clear up. I have eliminated any heat shields causing the problem. It appears to be it the 'double' walled pipe portion coming off of the cylinder. It seems i can isolate the noise to the right side (front) cyl. pipe. If i hit the pipe with the palm of my hand i can hear some rattling. I have seen posts about installing a 'taping' screw with the pointed end flattened out to 'hold' or maintain pressure between the 2 pipes. Can anyone be more specific with this information ...esp. as to the location of installing the screw. Is this a pipe design problem?...is there anything more 'professional' i can do to cure this? Am i correct to assume that the pipe off of the cylinder is a smaller steel pipe surrounded by a larger chrome pipe and welded at the ends? Can anyone offer other suggestions? I would appreciate any help to get rid of this annoying problem without replacing pipes. Thanks. ....rez
