Hi all, I'm brand new to the forum. I am just inches away from being the proud owner of a 1981 Suzuki GS450. It's my first bike, I figure it'll be a good learner bike; not a rocket, but fast enough to ride the freeways with. Here's the thing...
The bike has a fluid leak that seems to only happen after it's warmed up. It looks like it's coming from around the shift linkage, but there's a coat of road grime over most of the underside of the engine, so it's hard to tell. It's translucent, about the same color as engine oil. The crankcase level is in the normal range.
Anyone know how difficult it is to replace seals on an old bike like this? If it turns out it's going to be a major pain in the arse, I'll probably take the bike back to the seller. I'm a certified mechanic, so the work shouldn't be any problem, but expense is an issue. I got the older bike becuz it was cheap, and I need fuel-efficient transportation (I live in San Diego). Are these seals hard to get to/expensive?
