| Hello all - I'm a new rider and I just purchased a 97 1400 Intruder about two months ago. The bike only has 14,000 miles on it and is in mint condition (purchased from a friend). It had been running fine since I've had it - that is until I started making modifications -- new bags, new windshield, sissy bar removal, new seat (hasn't come in yet), etc. Even with the original seat being removed, it would still crank and run fine. That's the history... Now, as of last night, I can not get it to crank at all. I get lights, gauges, signal lights, etc. but it will not engage the starter at all. I don't even get a click sound. It just won't say anything. I've read several posts that suggest testing the starter. Also, I've seen suggestions that I may simply have disconnected something when I removed the seat - the thing is, it was running just fine even with the seat removed for the last two weeks. I have tested and charged the battery I have tried to make sure that all of the connections are okay I have checked the fuses My question is - how do you go about testing the starter? Please,,,pleeeaaase!!! Any help at all would be much appreciated. Bracchus |

| I don't have an Intruder but it sounds like, either the kill switch is on, or some other safety switch engaged. Kill switch, bumped on? Neutral Switch, is it in gear? Is there a Switch or Sensor for the clutch? Last edited by bat4255; 11-09-2005 at 04:13 PM. |

| I never have liked all the things on bikes now to protect me from myself. I disconnect or bypass all of them I can.
