| Hi, I need some assistance on taking out my throttle cable so I can finish pulling out my motor. Please someone help me on what to do, I do I have the haynes manual but it just says to remove the throttle cable by the throttle (that's it). How do I take the throttle cable off by the handlebars so I can run the wires through the frame and pull it out. ~many thanks edit: also I'm having trouble taking off the choke cable too. |

| Perhaps you could tell us what kind of bike you're working on. Better yet, fill out your profile and signature.

| It would be a lot easier if I knew what bike you had, but generally the throttle grip goes into a switch box on the bars, which can be split in half by removing a couple screws. You will then see how the throttle cable slips through the throttle sleeve. Tie some string around the now free end of the cable, grab the end by the carb, and pull it out. That way when you put it back you just tie it to the string and pull for the correct routing. Choke cable should just clip to the carb, or have a nut threaded over the knob end that hold it to the bracket or dash.

| I apologize, it's a 94 rf600. I did take apart the throttle box and see some wires. Do I just pull it out? Someone please guide me. All I need is the choke and throttle cable out and to remove the sprocket to get the chain off and the engine should just drop out. Last edited by bookzguy; 10-06-2005 at 04:01 PM. |
