Default Help..paint

I washed my M50 yesterday and checked all the fluids..oil..brake fluida and eveything.. then go out to go for a ride and look at my front fender and it looks like it has water on it. I looked closer and the paint has bubbled up on the back half of the fender... so dont know what to do.. Then only thing i can think of is a little bit of brake fluid leeked out... but would that harm paint in this way... need help... not sure what to do... repaint...need help

here's your chance to put tribal flame decals on it! jk, however, pics of the part will help, if it's a small area, try a touch up gloss matching paint available from your local auto stores. If worse comes to worse, that's one of the cost effective parts of the M50, plastic fender should'nt be that expensive to replace.

I may be wrong, but I think the plastic fenders are made from plastic of that color, so there wouldn't be any real paint. Sounds like something messed with the plastic itself. Someone let me know if I'm wrong.

OK, I will... The only reason I know it's painted is I had mine off the other day to see what the bike looked like without it...it's a gray primer color...

Couldn't see the pics there mate, sounds very odd.....I'd be very surprised if it was from break fluid from your bike, though blistering of the paint can be a result of this...if it is then you have a more serious problem....get the brake resivour checked out before it fails!...it should not leak...ever.

if brake fluid got on the paint and wasnt wiped off, that IS the culprit. i remember my uncle telling me about how that would be a really bad thing to do to someones car if they had done something to you...back in the day when revenge was like that....cause kids dont do things like that now!

i would try to go for the "defective paint" idea....maybe they will order you a new one

.

OK, I thought the fenders were molded from that particular color. So since it is painted, I wouldn't think you'd need a new fender; you would just need the old one repainted unless it damaged the actual plastic. Whether they would honor it under warranty is anyone's guess.

Merrit Island M50,

It's kinda pricey....BUT check out www.color-rite.com Put in your bike specs and it should show just what you would need.

I'd wipe the fender squeeky clean with some citrus degreaser and head to the dealer with a paint defect claim. All he can do is say no. If he does, at $99.00 for new, I wouldn't bother trying to repaint. The painer wuill hit you up the strip, primer and also to add the flex agent needed to keep the paint from cracking on the plastic.

^^^^^ I'd go there first. The paint shouldn't be bubbling up on a new bike, and the brake fluid certainly shouldn't be leaking. Good luck!

I totally agree with tlwisner and neighborscomplaint.......I mentioned "color-rite" earlier in the thread only as a last ditch effort/option....if the dealer won't work with ya..ect.
