| I once again want to revisit this topic one more time before I give up and sell the M50 for another model so my *** will like me again. I contacted Mustang and as before learned that seats for the M50 won't be manufactured for at least another year. I gave them this website so than can get a feel of the number of people that are unhappy with the Suzuki seat and want another product. This may stir some corporate thinking to perhaps expediate the process. I encourage anyone interested to call and give the same input. I then called Corbin and talked with Giovanni at customer service. Again as before Corbin is wanting someone in the Northern California area, near Hollister, Ca to bring thier M50 in and leave it for several weeks while they confiqure the specs and then manufacture the specific seats. The person that volunteers to do this will then receive the seat free. If anyone has interest I encourage you to contact Giovanni at Corbin's 1-800 number. His extension is 239. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that Corbin is the end all in seats, but the choices usually come down to either Corbin or Mustang. For me either one would be suitable at this point. Suzuki also needs to get emails and cards on how awful those seats are. Anyway that's enough ranting, hope something changes. Thanks for listening. Last edited by BigRed1; 08-23-2005 at 12:35 PM. |

| Greetings all. New member here, from Washington state. I just discovered this website yesterday, and it has already helped me out (ordered Kuryakyn switchblades and the local dealer was going to order the wrong adapters - the 8820's). Just got my M50 a week ago and after the first 300 miles I too, am wishing for a better seat, and have ordered the Suzuki Gel seat. Once it gets here, I would be willing to 'donate' the stock seats to Corbin for development purposes (for the aforementioned perks) if that will work. I'll let someone here who has already been in touch with Corbin check and see if that will be enough for them to do the work. Just post in this thread and I'll gladly do any followup required. Then maybe we can get a seat that let's us ride all day. Last edited by RedM50WA; 08-23-2005 at 03:32 PM. |

| I would very interested in how you find the gel seat. Please post once you have tried it out and want to offer an opinion. I would think that Corbin would want the entire bike vice just the stock seats, but a call to them might clear this up. Anyway welcome to the site and if you backside is as sore as mine, I can relate. Hey I used to live in Oak Harbor on Whidbey, where are you? Quote:

| I'm in Port Orchard, near Bremerton and across the water from Seattle. BigRed1, do you have the phone number that you guys used for Corbin, or is it just the 1-800-538-7035 number listed on their website?

| What seat issue? Funny, but Jeff Phipps and I were discussing this seat issue the other day as he was helping me design the seat. He has 30 years of custom upholstery experience. I think others here have realized this too, that the bracket for the passenger seat may be the issue (if not one of them). While I never had the problem, Jeff also noticed how this could affect somewhat taller riders. He was also amazed at the poor quality of material and design quality of the stock set-up, yet pleasantly surprized that a bike of this quality could be sold for under $7K, comparing it to an $80,000. chopper in his shop

| That is an awsome seat. Hey have you got any riding in on that bike yet. Don't tell me the weather has been bad. Remember when Sean arrives in Florida, we are counting on all you Dudes to solve his problem. otherwise his thread may go on forever. |

| For those interested in Mustangs cherry response to my inquiry, here it is. I guess Corbin is our only chance unless we get them custom made. Frustrating to say the least! Bob, Mustang management has made the decision not to make any seats for the M50, sorry. Thanks for your interest in Mustang. M50 was new for 2005 as you well know and has sold extremely well. I am sure that a lucrative market exits for you. Nearly all the owners of the M50 are very dissatisfied with the Suzuki designed seats and would replace given the availability. Through the M50 web sites I have been active with we are being encouraghed to let our concerns be known to you company. Thanks very much. | Thanks for pursuing this matter Bob. It does bother me that Mustang has not provided a satisfactory explanation on why they chose not to develop a seat for the M50 community. I mean, how hard is it for an aftermarket company to develop a seat that does not hurt our bum? That's all we ask!

| Yeah John I'm with you on those sentiments. Mustang obviousily is missing the market need and with no regard for demand. The hell with them I say, I'll take my business elsewhere or tolerate a sore a** before I give them any of my money. Quote:

| I talked to Giovanni at Corbin today, and a seat will not do; they definitely want a bike, for a month. I explained that getting someone to get off their nearly new M50 for a month during relatively good weather was probably not going to happen, and he kinda agreed that it was a lot to ask but didn't have any other encouraging things to say. I also talked to the owner of the local Suzuki dealership, and he had an interesting thought but didn't know how to pursue it (translation, wasn't gluteally motivated). That was, to see if one of the 2005 Suzuki test bikes that gets loaned around for demos to bike mags, etc. might be available for this use. Most of those bike mags are in California anyhow, so there could be something like that in that state. I'd suppose that'd take a call to someone at Suzuki, and am not sure where to go there. Any thoughts on that? I intend to de/reengineer my stock seat once the gel seat gets there. I'm gonna tear apart the back and cut/grind/pad/modify/curse that thing into something that doesn't bruise the ole tailbone. And the pictures of the gel seat in the Suzuki catalog looked like the back seat came over the front one more and may provide a bit more padding around that bump. I'll keep you all posted. |

| Just got my Suzuki gel seat today, and it looks promising. The hump at the rear of the stock seat that busts my tailbone doesn't seem to be a problem with this seat, but I have yet to actually ride with it on. The gel makes the seat higher, and also pushes me forward a bit (which should help me avoid the tailbonitis). It's raining here so I probably won't put the miles on it until this weekend. I hope to do a 350+ miler around Mt. Rainier. I'll do a review after I get some more miles on it. I also intend to tear apart the stock seat and see what I can do to it so I'll keep you posted on that front also. I have a local motorcycle seat builder about 30 miles away that I may employ to customize it if the gel seat doesn't cut it. |
