I'm with you, dude...I scrape my pegs fairly often, found out about that bolt early in the bike ownership! Like you said, just adjust your weight. I think I'm gonna have to turn the rear suspension up to 4 and see what happens (but the pegs are more up front, so I don't know if it'll do anything.) I certainly wouldn't agree with the statement that the pegs on these bikes are high...they're the only thing I ever scrape!

dialing the suspension up to 4 from the stock 3 will make the bike easier to handle and easier to get lower.....and it wont raise the pegs enough to make a difference

I scraped both pegs on the rauder and barely even noticed when I did. Just kind of went hmmph and kept going. Seems I had leaned it farther before without them scraping but who knows.

The first time that I did it, I had to change my underwear!
The second time, I was riding 2-up with my wife. She just giggled.

I have gotten use to the peggs scraping on hard turns. Now I just added some Cobra Highwaybars and found out that they hit before the pegs. It only took once for the bars to grind on the pavement. Now I have to retrain myself that this is a cruiser also. I also probally need to set up the shock setting

I'm not sure of getting the highway bars because of this.....

I'm not positive they caused this...but it does make me wonder.

i like the low profile bars that most have put on the M50...look good and clean, yet dont stick out too far. give you a spot to mount highway pegs too.

those big things are for the bigger bikes that shouldnt be turning like the guy in those pics.

If you get those wide bars, you need this as well.

Default protection

In all seriousness though, I'm confused again.....done a google/another search on both for the M50......DO the lower bars look as though they will protect pretty well or are they more for looks on the M50?

thanks.

ive never even REALLY been sure of the purpose of these.

stop things from hitting the engine?
help protect the engine when the bike falls? <-my guess
place to put highway pegs? <-my reason for even considering them, but not since i have forward controls

I've always thought the cruiser crash bars serve a similar purpose to the frame sliders on sport bikes: to minimize damage on the bike in an event of a fall.

Scraped for the 1st time yesterday after 2 months of riding. I never thought I would ever lean that far over. I feel like a real biker now.
