Default Anyone install a riser?

Hello all! I am a newbie to the forum, so bear with me... I have an M50 and need some help with ordering a riser for it. I am 5'5" and have no trouble with the seat height, but the handle bars are just a little too far away from me. My service guys have checked catalogs and so far have come up empty handed on which one would work. Anyone out there done this and can share product info?

Do a search of the forum for riser. Two measurements are required additional height, amount forward. A drastic change means changes in the cable run, a few inches is fine. Some here have loosened the bars and shifted the bars forward. Not all have same arm length. A friend and a tape measure will help.
Good luck

Maddux...hello and welcome. Sorry to hear you are having a problem with the reach on your bike.

Unfortunately, the best solution for right now is in blackie's post: Moving the handle bars back to accomodate you.

When you have some free time...take a look at the riser/bar combo on your bike. You will see that it is no easy deal to just replace them. I've pasted in an earlier post from a couple of months ago that should give you an idea of what is available to fix this problem. I like you, am open and willing for any alternative suggestions, but for now the following seems to be the only options.

Risers and handlebars are a tricky item for the M50. That nifty, pretty lookin' speedometer housing perched in the riser and bar setup causes some interesting problems because of the design.

The best solution I've found for now is about eight hundred dollars or so. The M50 speedometer has the FI warning lights and fun stuff like that inside it. Right now the easy fix would be a Dakota Digital speeedometer/tachometer with FI compatability. Retail price $450.
Risers $75-$150
Bars $75-$150
New Cables $50-$100 Lets face it...you go this far, you might as well put braided lines on.

The other option is to find a tank from a C50, and mount that up. The speedometer is on the tank on the C50 and should mate right up to the wiring harness. Then you would be free to install any riser/bar combo you could come up with.

Thanks for your help on this one... I will shift the bars and see how it feels. I can deal with it as it is, but I know that if the bars were a tad closer to me, I would enjoy the ride even more... And isn't that what it's all about?!?!?!?! Thanks again!

I have a 2005 C50, I don't know if these will fit but check out Aeromach risers. On my bike they raised the bars 1 1/2 - 2 inches (but no cable had to be cut, drilled extended and they left the triple tree alone) and they bring the bars an inch closer to you. I know your bike is a little different, but they are a great company (you can buy direct from them or through a vendor like Cruiser Customizing) they are reputable, the chrome looks great (they run about $140), they are easy to install (for that kind of thing), and at least on my bike I kept all the stock parts - cables etc, just replaced the stock risers. I am 5' 9" and I felt like I had to reach a bit. Good luck - hope this helps. Mato
