Default Corbin seat for M50

I know that many parts for the Volusia 800 and the '05 C50 will fit the M50, but does anyone know if the Dual Touring Corbin seats listed for Volusia and the C50 will fit the M50?
It looks like the rear fender rails are the same and the curve of the fender starts out the same. If everything is the same back to the rear seat anchor, I'm thinking it will fit.

The wife now decides she'd like to ride along and I just want to make her comfy.

The only exterior visual differences between the C50 and M50 seats are where they meet the tank and where the passenger seat bolts to the rear fender. The M50's tank is a longer modern design and the seat is designed to "flush" to it. The C50's tank is a classic design in which the seat "butts" up to it. Where the passenger seat meets the rear fender on the M50 is a little more curved downward on the C50 ... this might be able to be bent to accomodate ... or maybe the M50's passenger seat can be retained for use with a retro-fitted C50 seat. Now, the question is, do they share the same pan?

I see what you're saying. I went to the suzuki web site and clicked back and forth between the C50 and the M50 and there is definately more curve to the fender at the point were the passenger seat bolts on. I also see the difference at the front of the seat. The C50 seat looks longer up front to meet the tank.

I've read several reports that state the seat pan for the M50 is different than the seat pan for the C50 so the Corbin seats for the C50 will not fit the M50.

Lightbulb a creative fix for seat problems?

I dunno if this will help anyone or not, but I gotta tell what I saw on TV the other day. I dropped in on a program called Southern Steel on one of the Discovery channels -- it's another one of those chopper builder shows that are supposedly so popular lately.

To make a seat for his latest rigid hard-tail chopper the builder marked out with a magic marker on the raw frame where he wanted the seat to be. Next, he covered the area with duct tape, and then he built up a form around the edges with some sort of clay or putty or somesuch. Then he mixed a two-part liquid and poured it onto the form, shaping it with a short stick to get an even thickness. When the goop set up it was ready to be used as the seat pan. I'm not sure it this was one he put short coil springs onto beneath a layer of foam or not, but it was a guaranteed fit on the bike.

Granted, not everyone wants a do-it-yourself project like this. Granted, not everyone rides a chopper. But maybe some enterprising soul will find inspiration from this.

Frankly, I'm surprised Suzuki has sent such a turkey to market. There're so many people who've complained about the torturous seat on the M50 it's got me wondering if I should reconsider my choice for a bigger bike than my mean little 250. Then again, it looks like there's everything else to like about the M50...

I haveseen the Tuttles do it to. It did not work for them.
Someone has to buy a spare seat and send it out to a seat maker, with an explanation. I am quite sure it just that first step. No one wants down time with their bike.

No not yet. But you are close to the Mustang factory. Hmmm....maybe in my spare time I'll go to work on them. I have spoke with them in detail though, and they (Mustang) told me they had plans to develop an M50 seat in August with a possible rollout by January.

This however, conflicts with what they are telling other people. Some of which, being "Mustang currently has no plans to develop a seat for the M50." If currently means today or next week then they are being truthful! LOL.

So we have conflicting views from Mustang, and we can't get someone to take a bike to Corbin. Which I ran the scenarios at Corbin with the free gear you get, and it could be five grand worth of stuff at the most, minimum would be a $400 saddle, but I think they would develop more than one saddle.

That is how I ended up getting the Corbin thing done. I started calling around different seat makers because I have a donor seat pan. None were interested in messing with it. If I remember though. Cee Bailey has a program where you send them your pan, and body measurements, and they make a custom pad based on your pan. They are known for their windshields, and I believe the CHP guys visiting the factory to pick up windshields for their bikes saw them making seats for airplanes, and asked if they could make a seat that would be comfortable for 8 hours a day.

If a Motorcycle Officer can ride for 8 hours on a seat, it must be good......

Somone should modify this C50/Volusia seat for their M50 'cause this seat would be killer cool.
