Thumbs up Techlusion TFI install

I already sent this info to George at Dobeck Performance. Hopefully, it will help some of you as well.

George,

Here are the pics and instructions, as promised. Call me if you need to get clarification on any of this.

Thanks!

-Ron

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Remove seats and right side cover. This will expose the factory ECM.

Pic1

2) There are 2 connectors plugged into the factory ECM. Locate the smaller of the two.

Pic2

3) Locate the grey/white and grey/black wires in the group that leads to the small ECM connector. Attach a T-tap to each of these wires.

Pic3

4) Connect the blue and grey leads from the TFI box to these T-taps using spades and insulators.

5) Locate the white connector that has a black rubber cap. It is near the ECM wiring harness.

Pic4

6) Attach a T-tap to the orange/white wire leading to this connector.

Pic5

7) Connect the red lead from the TFI box to this T-tap.

Pic6

8) Attach the ring terminal to the black lead from the TFI box. Ground this wire to the frame or the negative battery post.

Pic7

9) Find a suitable position to mount the TFI box. Mount the box and route all of the wires away from heat and sharp edges.

Pic8

10) Baseline settings: (G) 2:30, (Y) 3:00, (R) 1:30, RPM --> 4:00

Cool

As far as the performance goes, it does exactly as I expected. The factory fuel curve is really very good. It's not like when they were carbureted. With the limited seat time that I have since I installed the TFI unit, I have only noticed a couple of differences. One, by adjusting the dial under the green LED the bike seems to run "smoother" at low speeds. Second, by adjusting the dial under the yellow LED, the engine jumps forward more willingly if you open the throttle very fast at low revs. I plan to install V&H Cruzer pipes and some sort of cold air intake kit in the future. The TFI will give me the ability to compensate for those changes when needed.

What are your final settings with the bike stock?

I haven't had a chance to "finalize" the settings just yet. The baseline settings that I posted above seem to work real well. I will probably weld a bung into the exhaust so that I can use my wideband oxygen sensor to accurately fine tune the settings.

How is the techlusion unit now that you have some seat time.
I am 105 km from my first service where I intend to go with TFI and a K&N.
So any input welcome.
Thanks

There are 3 different units.
Techlusion TFI
Dynojet power commander
Cobra Fi 2000
The commander uses windows based map software thru a usb port. For more advanced users.
The Cobra is from an exchaust mfg. so the use with other exchaust may have no base settings???
The Techlusion is a simple use system. I think this is an area where better info is required.
I am sure others will jump in with a better explanation.

Blackie,

I've been on vacation with my family for the past week. I hope to get some riding in this weekend.

I am scheduled for first service on next Thursday. Techlusion and K&N will be done then, I like the stock pipes, so will not maximize the gain.My dealer instals Techlusion on sportsbikes and recommends. I took advantage of Kruzers Instal instructions, printed out with the pictures to assist.
I will post my feeling after some seat time.
I am at 600 miles now, should be thru with breakin at instal.

I have had my bike back for 5 days since the 1st service where I had TFI installed with K&N. I used your settings, I like the response I get when I crack the throttle. My mechanic said he thought it was a little rich. I have been hesitant about adjusting the settings. You had not installed a K&N yet.
Would that make the bike a little richer.
Have you made any changes in your settings.
Thanks
Bob

I'm no mechanic, but the K&N should make the bike run leaner, the filter should maximize the air intake, not deliver less air.

I have a Techlusion and a Tornado air kit. If I use the settings most people on this forum are using then my bike runs rich most of the time. I think the O2 sensor in the silencer is the culprit but since I have limited mechanical ability I am a bit stuck. Anybody have an O2 sensor and a Techlusion with a K&N? What settings do you have? Thanks!

bump

I am looking for the pictures involved with the instructions. Does anyone have them saved or posted elsewhere online?
