Default M50 free fender eliminator

While tinkering around with the bike today, in a whole-hearted attempt to start installation of the Kuryakyn grips, I came up with this free mod for all you M50 riders. Much cleaner looking in my opinion ... Let me know what you think! And you just remember who gave this present to you!!

I like....does clean it up in the rear.

I had already thought about getting rid of that and attaching a "side" plate bracket possibly.

You keep hitting all my "wanting to upgrade" spots....guess I'm gonna have to be the 1st to try a 200 tire..hehe.

I don't get it. You got rid of the rear brake light? And this is somehow a good thing?

Or is that just a reflector?

The big clear lens at the top of the assembly is the brake light. When the bike is running the light reflects red and remains on to serve as your brake light. The part that I removed is simply a reflector, which in turn I have red reflectors placed on the license plate. This mod is not much different from the hundreds of rear fender eliminator kits available for sportbikes such as the ones here ... except it's free .

C'mon! Who would remove their brake light???

Thanks! I scored the lines with a utility knife; it's really soft plastic. Then broke apart the to be discarded pieces with pliers and sanded the edges.

Hehe, thanks. I'm thinking of having ghost flames painted on the tank, but haven't yet come up with a design. Not even really sure if it will be flames or lightning bolts; but definitely in a ghost format because I don't want them to be obnoxious, just subtle; more worthy of a double-take. Maybe color shift? Dah! ... I've got time. Also would like to eventually swap the wheels for something in an aluminum finish ... maybe, as I still like the black-on-black look ... man, all these thoughts ... I've got to get to work in Photoshop!

i like all the black on my Black M50...i call it my STEALTH bike....very muscle look to it. im not a fan of a lot of chrome, just some to add a little shine to the black.

youve got me thinking about the Kury pegs, and covers though. they look nice. i would like to see a pic of those on the bike.

hmm phiny were u asking zuki or me? I don't have emblems on, for the same reason you mentioned. Took em off day almost immediately. However, one thing I see happening is even though we all will end up "customizing" our bikes, they're going to all still look alike since we are using the same parts...hmmm

For the record zuki i was thinking about having ghost flames done as well from the fenders to the tank and all the way aft...been getting a little survey from my friends as to yea or nay...then i saw your post and went "doh, he's going to do it too..."

i was actually referring to Zuki (looking at his avatar i dont see them, but could be the angle)...but thats cool that you dont either. as for looking alike, dont think it matters since you and i wont be running into eachother on the streets. our paths from CA to FL probably wont cross tooo often

im doing the lights...and might do the drive shaft cover if i can ever find it online! but thats about it for a while. not going to do a lot of chrome.

Damn Doug....I was hoping I could show you the Kuryakyn Mini-Bullets I put on the back before you went an bought some lights. (I know...I know....this thread is useless without pics! My wife's digital camera is on the fritz though.)

They look awesome! I have to get a set for the front to balance it out. These are the small ones (kuryakyn's bottom right corner)

They tuck right up under the curve on the rear fender in the stock mounting holes, and do not need any separate mounting kits. So I definitely have to do the fender mod and get it a little cleaner.
