Hello everyone. I just bought a 2002 Marauder this past week and I had a few questions I need help with. I'm going to try to give you as much detail of what happened. If you need any specific detail let me know. The guy I bought it from had the bike sitting since February of this year. I got it home on my friends truck and changed the oil. The battery seemed like it was low and it would crank the motor but die quickly. I hooked up the battery tender and gave the battery a charge. I got it to start up and stay on perfectly and was able to ride it around for a little bit. While I was accelerating it would sputter every now and then. I put the bike away and went back today to spray some carb cleaner in the carbs and to check the plugs and see if I could get it to run smoother. I didn't notice that I was really low on gas and turned it on but it kept turning off. Finally I checked the gas and added more. I got it to turn on and it idled fine while it was warming up. Then when I took the choke off it startd to idle a little weird like if it had some sort of knock or miss or something. Kind of like a thud noise (hard to explain). It then died. I tried to start it again and it wouldn't want to stay on more than a few seconds. I took off the gas tank and checked the plugs and also sprayed some carb cleaner in the carbs in case they were dirty. I put everything back together and tried to start it and it would not turn on. Again it would turn on and idle a few seconds at a really low idle speed and turn off. I tried to hold the throttle a little open and it would not even start. If it did start as soon as I would give it a little gas it would turn off. Eventually the battery started to die and it would do this weird thing that the lights would turn on then it would crank and everything would turn off then it would light up again and crank one time and do it again. Then after it did that for a bit it would not crank anything at all. I turn the key to on and hold the clutch and press the starter button and all I hear is a click click click click noise coming from around the battery. could it be that the battery took a crap? Is it a relay or something that I may have shorted out? How about the problem with the idle? Could I have picked up some garbage in the tank when I almost ran out of gas? Could it be that the idle is just set too low? I read on here in another post that if you take the tank off and block the vents it could starve the carbs of fuel. What would you all recommend? Thanks in advance for any advice.
