I have over 30,000 in my 4 years of ownership and I dropped it for the first time last Friday. I was driving home from work and there was a light rain. All of a sudden, the pick-up in front of me was stopped - no brake lights. By the time I realized he was stopped, it was too late. I grabbed the front brake and it locked up. Since it was raining, I wasn't getting much traction. I could tell that I wouldn't stop in time and I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I think the front end just slipped out from under me and I went down. As my head smacked into the pavement, I remember thinking that I was glad that I had my helmet on(I always wear it). A couple of kind drivers checked to make sure I was ok and helped me get the bike back up. I was ok and the bike just has a few scratches. You just never know what's going to happen on the road. The only sure thing is that you'll get the short end of the stick, no matter who's at fault.
