I understand where you are coming from I still have my M50 and I "moved up" several times; since, I bought my M50. Sometimes it almost seems like people are bragging that they don't have the M50 anymore

I have already been through 3 other "moved up" motorcycles and have still keep my M50 as my favorite 2nd motorcycle IMHO -I fail to see the need to post my other motorcycles as a solitary thread on this forum because it's *NOT AN M50*

I like both of them. I checked out their videos, and they are both impressive.

I'm not old enough yet to like baggers (lol) but this one really has me. I just Love the red and black color combo (my favorite). Nice ride!

That is a beautiful back rest After going through the Kawasaki Forum, people really love their Nomads and have no problems putting on lots of miles.

The 2008 has a 5 speed tranny while the 2009 has the 6 speed tranny with another 100cc. This hasn't discouraged the Nomad community It looks like Kawasaki put a lot of care into building the Nomad.

The M50s were kind of put together as cheaply as possible and it shows sort of like the M50 (2010) with the nose cone

Still keeping my M50

I bought an '07 Nomad also, but kept my M50. Who says you can't have two? Both have their strong points.

My initial impression is that I will be quite happy, especially on longer rides. It's amazing how the big windshield on the Nomad keeps the air off you. The former owner had oversize lowers made for the bike and there is almost no are hitting me in the chest.

She is heavy though (773 lbs dry) which makes a big difference on the interstate. When I was on the M I would get pushed around by the wind from the 18 wheelers - not so on the Nomad.

The negatives....I thought 1552 CC's vs 805 would make a huge difference. Not so, the M50 seems to have better acceleration. Also, not having air move around me can make the bike seem pretty hot (probably good in the wintertime though). In addition, the Nomad sips only high octane. Lastly, my full coverage insurance went up from $230 / year to $416 / year...OUCH. If you folks don't mind, I will still hang around this forum. There are a bunch of great people with some really good info here.
I owned a 2007 M50. Bought a 2007 Vulcan Nomad 1600 new off the floor and eventually sold that M50. Wished I had not.
The Nomad was a great bike, best bang for the buck for a heavy cruiser but so heavy it made my hip and knee ache at times.
I loved dragging the floorboards in North Carolina, Arkansas and about every other state I rode it though. Love to carve my name in the asphalt kind of thing.
However the M50 gets much better gas mileage, only requires 87 octane and can blow the Nomad away on quickness.
It's all what you want a bike for.
You will enjoy that Nomad until you need to move it or lift it up.
Stay safe.
Any questions on a Nad I can answer most likely.

That is the same way I felt about my couple Goldwings 1500 and Valkyrie 1500. They say that the Goldwing 1800 is lighter and more sportlike, but that is like getting a Winnebago Adventurer motor home.. change the suspension, tires, redesign for better handling to make it sporty

*Sorry* a Winnebago is still a Winnebago is still a motor home. It's the same way I feel about the Goldwing 1800 and some of these Maxi-Cruisers. The cruiser idea is good as it rides completely different then a sport or standard motorcycle. After having so many large motorcycles.. I've gravited toward mid-size motorcycles as large and mid-size motorcycles will cruise all day at 70+mph with power to pass.

Just because I had 3 Goldwings and 1 Valkyrie, I never felt the urge to cruise or overtake cages at 100+mph. My former Valkyrie Tourer(6 cylinder 1500cc) definitely had more power than my present M50, but it was also much bulkier.

It's all about personal preference so I keep 2 motorcycles in my garage My M50 I use for daily commuting and long distance touring
