I was thinking about adding one of the license plates with LEDs to increase the bike's visibility to other drivers from behind. I was also considering installing a standard Back-Off brake light modulator. Just heard that this September ('09) NC might pass a bill that would make illegal any plate frame that obscures the stickers or state name. (I'd often wondered about that from the police or 911 side of things...being able to tell the state of the plate if you're not familiar with its graphics or "taglines"). Wow - are the colleges and other special interest groups going to be mad! So I'm thinking best to hold off on purchasing the LED frame and I'm wondering what others have done to beef up visibility on the back of the bike. I know some people go the completely opposite direction and try to slick things down, but I'm more interested in being seen...day and night. How do you feel about the combo run-turn-brake conversions? Or could stand alone LEDs be used? Attached directly to the plate...or maybe to something else that is fabbed (or stock from the hardware store) and that attached to the plate in a way that does not obstruct any words? I do not run with a sissy bar, so I don't have the option of using that. Just wondering what others have done...Pics would be great! |
