After riding around for several months with six holes in each backplate and one all the way up the pipe, I went and got the tools to debaffle, rigid brand 3in and 1.5 in bimetal hole saws from home depot, I used a heavy duty 1/2 inch drive drill used for mixing drywall compound, this was by far the easiest mod I have done so far it took about 15 - 20 minutes. I used wd40 to spray the pipe and hole saws along the way and those plates came out very easy, my drill did not even get warmed up, the key to doing this is to let the saws do the work with just slight pressure, if you push to hard it will cause the saws to bind, the sound is very good, if you have not done this mod yet I recommend you do it.
