Whenever i see major sparks from an aftermarket peg grinder I wonder if it's a fire hazard. I know grinding metal shoots harmless sparks but when people put magnesium on there, couldn't they start a forest fire, however unlikely it might be? I mean to be honest, I've used those little magnesium pieces of %%%% to start a fire whilst camping and found it very difficult but it's that 1 in a million chance that would worry me when you're out riding. Aside from that: I used to drag my pegs a lot. Especially on the roundabouts in the city because the road is cambered really high in the center and leaning left there is no clearance. But I read in "More Proficient Motorcycling," about hanging off of the bike to reduce the necessary lean angle for a given turning rate and speed. Since practicing this a bit and feeling a bit like an %%%%%%% I haven't been scraping at all. Yeah I look like a retard scooting a 6 inches off my seat and hanging off the bike in a 45mph tight city corner, but I find it entertaining to practice on a day to day basis because up in the twisties it makes things a lot more entertaining when you pick up this skill.

M50 drags footpegs way too easily even when stock --without lowering the bike. I'm using my BMW F50GS which is much higher off the ground to lean into the steep twisties. Both bikes are in the 800cc class, but have completely different personalities. |

I don't really like it when I scrape the pegs because after lowering 3" I know the back of the frame is about to leverage the wheel off the ground....probably wouldn't be much fun if that went down...+1 for the vag...lmao!

Do a search for "Maximum Lean Angle". There is a post put out by me showing where I scraped the stock pipes. Pics included.

I drag the pegs on occasion, but the heels of my boots hit first and act as an early warning device. I guess that I must have a funky foot position.

| I used to hit with my boot heels too. My feet used to hang half off the pegs to get comfortable because of the air cleaner sticking so far out. My legs are kinda big though so maybe that's why...

I pulled a smurf this morning and drug my exhaust getting off the super-slab. Started draggin the peg, gave a little more throttle, leaned a little more, and then the sound changed and i just knew i got the exhaust.

Ive scraped pegs 4 or 5 times in the last few weeks. The first time was kind of a WTF moment. As big as my feet are its kinda odd that it happens, my heels usually hit first.
