Well from a strictly Hollywood entertainment perspective the video is really cool I must say. There's lane splitting..........then there's lane splitting. Sheesh! Your out of control bro. You actually seem to be a really good rider and handle the bike extremely well. When I was 15yrs younger I felt the way the you rode in that video. Fearless, willing to take risks, thought I could anticipate everything. Then I got a little older and I tend to err on the side of caution now. I don't really know what to say. I guess to answer your survey question, no I don't ride like that. I prefer more rural country riding and stay away from the interstate through Atlanta as much as I can. I open it up on mountain twisties and long, straight-aways when nobody is around, that's about it. I guess I'd be considered a slow, boring cruiser rider by your standard. I ride 80% of the time for relaxation and probably 20% of the time for excitement. But I'm also a single father with two children under the age of 12 that depend on me so that has a lot to do with it as well.

O.M.G. Wow - dude, i gotta say there is no way in hell i would/could ride like that BUT dang entertaining to watch! I didn't take the time to read all the comments prior to mine but i'm sure its a safe bet there were a lot of "you give bikers a bad name" and "you're going to die soon". Was your riding dangerous and risky? Yes. But are you trying to convince any of us to ride like that? No. Live and let live i say. Very entertaining. P.S. Was that a Lacuna Coil track?

that's one of the more stupid things I have ever watched. Are you really that insensitive to other people that you just don't give a rats ass about who you hurt or how? Everyone on that road has a family that YOU put at risk with each of those 'paths you planned ahead'. At some point you are going to %%%% up and after you get out of the hospital you will be doing prison time for killing someone. I hope its worth it. %%%%ing kids these days. One day you will grow up, if you manage to live that long. Vehicles are not time machines. The way you ride though, its more of a weapon than anything. Maybe those laws need looked into more to account for stupidity. +1 on the vid quality though and the sound lol.

I truly do feel sorry for your situation at home, no one deserves to have the love of their life taken from them at such a young age. But, if the anger at either the Man upstairs or at how things have changed in your life in general has caused you to have a "who cares" outlook on life which is reflected in your riding style, then I would really hope you look at another form of "therapy" to help you deal with your situation as best as you can. The track is a great suggestion, but sometimes you need an ear to just listen, a punching bag to vent into, or a mountain to climb to be alone for a while. I wish you well...but the biggest thing that I have a problem with is that there is a good chance that the person in the vehicle that clips/hits you will survive, and if you don't they have to live with that memory FOREVER, one that they had absolutely no say in. |

I don't really care what's happened to your wife. It's no excuse to behave like a moron. Grow up. You're no better than someone who likes to shoot guns into the air. Is it harmless fun for them? They think so. Until a bullet lands on someone or lead rains down on a school.

I didn't mention my wife and lack of children so you could cry for me. I mentioned it because someone said I should be looking out for my family of which I'm shortly to have none. I don't need your guy's approval. I wasn't asking if it was OK. It's bloody against the law to travel at these velocities in the first place, never you mind that I'm going between traffic. I realized that I would be a rarity. The fact of the matter is, if 99% of people riding bikes would die on their first try of this. Subsequently, I have never, in person, seen another cruiser rider doing it(maybe they're all dead, maybe they are all more interested in comfort and relaxation than speed, or maybe they just can't fit their handlebars between the cars *it's bloody difficult*). I constantly see sporty riders doing it much more efficiently than I am able to, but that's to be expected (at least where I live). What I wondered, was how many other cruiser riders, specifically the M50 were also doing it. That is all. I don't need your permission to drive how I like. It's not as if you could stop me. Not even the police have stopped me. I rarely drop below 80 on the freeway, lane splitting the whole way to and from work and I've never had so much as a ticket. This is of course, in the capitol city of California where there is no shortage of officers out and about. ![]() I entertained your questions and your remarks as part of the social contract, because you see I wanted information from you, so of course it's only polite that I deliver information in return. I seem to have given some of you the idea that my actions were up for debate, but that is simply not the case. Any information I gave past the video and the only question I posed was out of pure politeness. That's not to say you cannot comment and call me a blithering idiot and the like. I enjoy all of your strong willed views on the subject, as they are so very different from my own. I have no sense of pride in my riding skill or choices, nor would I if I were a careful driver. I cannot be offended on the internet by people who I've never met, and as such this current rebuttal is nothing about being annoyed or feeling angry. I apologize if it sounds a bit harshly toned. I'm a huge fan of speaking freely and frankly, but please do not get the impression that I'm trying to convince you this is OK, to get you guys to join me, or least of all to ask for your permission. In summary: Please continue berating me as you see fit, but also realize that my added information was in response to what seemed like inquiries, and not given to convince you guys that I am in the Right as it pertains to morality and law. As luck would have it, people's opinions on forums have no effect on my concept of reality or my observance of the laws of my country. ![]() Lastly, About shooting guns into the air. As it turns out, if you shoot upward, it's actually quite safe. It's when you start getting angles on it that it becomes dangerous. Case in point, in America there have been 2 documented shootings resulting from play fire into the air. Both of them with .22LR bullets. Both of them more than a mile away. Both of them were fired in a lateral direction. When fired in such a maner, a bullet is able to surpass it's terminal velocity due to the spin the riffling puts on the bullet keeping it facing directly forward. If however, A bullet reaches it's maximum height in an upward direction, it will spin sort of randomly on its tumble down to the earth. This of course will subject the tiny lead trinket to the forces of wind resistance. And as it turns out, the terminal velocity of a bullet being pulled through the atmosphere by the force of gravity is not high enough for it to pierce of the skin of the closest ballistic human analog, the pig. So, if you are saying that I am no better than one who fires bullets into the air, than I have to give you a big Thanks again everyone for your warm responses to my topic. If you do start a pool on my death date as was mentioned earlier, can I get in on it? If so I'd be happy to set up some sort of will to have a post written here on this website in the event of my death so that the bet can be settled. This way , if I win, the proceeds can go to Cystic Fibrosis. That would be a sort of fitting circle now wouldn't it.

You could not be more misinformed. I guess you get all your info from mythbusters. It looks like quite a rush... unfortunately lane splitting is illegal here... that isn't really what stops me though, it's the fact that I live in WV and there isn't traffic like that anywhere in the state. I don't wanna get caught doing that in another state, Id probably get arrested or die knowing my luck. Cool vid

08-M50 Rider Stop posting, with each post you become even more of an idiot. I'm starting to think some child is playing on his dads computer. You son, are a moron. I don't say that because of your driving habits alone, but your posts just add confirmation. Yes everyone has freedom to do what they want, to a degree. Thats the easy part, now try to find some common sense. You have none. Think about others. You do not. Now I have to read your last post again because I think you may be the dumbest, most ignorant SOB on this board. Anyone who agrees fully with your riding habits, need to get a good lawyer and bump up their coverage. Here's to doing your part to make me pay more insurance and have people just love motorcycle enthusiasts, you are a real ambassador to my passion. Thats sarcasm, just thought I'd better spell it out for you and your friends. Please try to kill only yourself, no one else asked for the ride. Last edited by dogginit; 06-29-2009 at 12:41 PM. |

Lighten up dog, that freedom that you casually mention also includes when people do things you don't agree with. If you don't like it, don't do it - pretty simple actually. For the record, his posts have had more honesty and coherent logic than you could ever hope to attain in your schizophrenic ramblings.
