P.S. So far, the vote is about 8 to 2 against your position. How come you aren't giving those 7 OTHER people a load of crap too ??

Well ya don't follow me around, and I wasn't really so concerned with everyone else as they were meerly stating that they thought it was wreckless and irresponsible. It's the fact that you're right there on every thread to nay say, in a rather rude way. I didn't really look at this from a 'vote' or 'taking sides' prospective, more of a well he's gonna do what he wants to do and I hope he's safe doing it. Not OH you're a ***** and a **** and you give us a bad name you ****. You need to learn to lighten up and worry about yourself and less about everyone else. Frankly I don't think this guy cares if people like what he did or not, shoot it took some balls just to post that up here for fear of being flammed by people like you. I'm all done here, you can throw up another post to flame me if ya want, but I'm all done waisting time on you.

We need more video, I want to see if you can do it at speed. Flip Flops and shorts, helmets are for sissy's. Use the highbeam light flasher, that'll help. Maybe use a rear mounted camera so we'll be suprised at what's comming next.

TJ please pass me some popcorn, this could get exciting.

Nope, no show here. I'm done. I just hope this cat wears his gear and when/if he crashes I hope he doesn't take out anyone else. And it seems a lot of people need the training wheels taken off their bikes...

That's not a fact at all. On an average day, there are what.....maybe 50 or 60 posts made ......in about 20 or 30 different threads......and I make maybe 3 or 4 posts. Your perspective is warped.

Sometimes rude; yep, can't argue with that.
Rude is sometimes appropriate.

Thanks guys for responding. Even EasyRider LoL

I don't mind your opinions one bit. As you might guess I get to hear the opinions of motorists in the form of little horns as I ride along.

My average speed on the video is about 80 MPH even tho my silly speedometer says something like 90.

I wear a helmet just in case I fall off on the way to and from the freeway.

Maybe you at least enjoyed the music?

I do realize that getting run over by 15 cars would be kinda %%%%ty after suffering a fall off of the bike.

I feel that theme parks are both expensive and a tad boring. The whole thing about motorcycling is the freedom, the precision required to keep it rubber side down at all times, and the extreme consequence for infinitesimally small decisions made in an instant. Roller coasters are just a comfy place to sit while you enjoy the scenery and the ingenuity of someone else. A time and a place for them arguably, but not so much for me. Thank you though, for the suggestion.

I don't really feel I'm much of a risk to other motorists. Because lane splitting is not banned in California, it's not an uncommon enough sight for cars to get surprised or frightened by it. I get passed up by sportbike riders doing 100mph all the time. That's right, in CA you have to check your mirrors while driving between the two left most lanes because motorcycle traffic piles up there and you move over and let faster traffic through. This is not "proof" that it's OK, I'm simply saying that CA drivers (at least in NorCal where I live) are fairly jaded to motorcycle splitting traffic and aren't going to drive into each other just because I've cruised up beside their mirrors.

Cars merge into me all the time when riding this speed, but I don't fault them because when they checked over their shoulder before merging, I wasn't there. I expect them to move suddenly, and you can see on the vid I react to them merging over very easily with lots of room to spare. There were actually many cars that merged into my path that I had planned in my head, not just the one my bike actually took, but you just quickly make new plans and you're golden.

As for vigilance, you can see I spotted the cop early on and slowed down till he exited the freeway, and later on I-5, there was a piece of tire in the road while splitting and I dropped back into a lane to avoid it before proceeding.

As for a responsibility to my family, I don't have kids. My wife (who I've been with for 8 yeas now) is terminally ill. I'm not looking to live to 100, though I'm not looking to kill myself either. But if my greatest joy in life is being stripped from me in my early twenties, you bet your ass I'm going to forgo some of my normal worrying and enjoy the hell out of some %%%% I used to find a bit risky. I walk around all day completely numb to everything. The world is sort of gray scale and uniform. On my commute home though the blue sky is vibrant, the grass is green and the pavement is a murderous, poorly maintianed, gauntlet of obstacles that requires my full attention and then some as I head on the long journey home. (my work is much farther from my house than this trip from the university) Sounds stupid to most people, but seriously, please only respond on that particular point if you are in a similar boat. Otherwise, you just have no idea.

Thanks for your feedback. I am still looking for people to hopefully confirm that I'm not alone out here, or better, to have a vid themselves that makes me look like on old lady. I've only been riding a year, so there has to be someone else out there, even if they aren't on this forum, with some fantastic looking video.

To those that I've offended. I am honestly sorry if my post has made you angry. I do very much hate it when posts make me angry. I wanted to survey the opinions of worldwide cruiser owners, specifically ones with the very agile M50 because it is quite capable of navigating fluidly through fast moving traffic. Though I was hopeful in finding some other people who found some joy in their long commute in as similar manner as I have, I did also expect to see the very intelligent, informed, perfectly reasonable opinions of those who would love nothing more than to see me crash so I can stop sullying the name of good motorcyclists.

I don't think you are wimps, or bla bla insert derogatory biking term here. I just hope you recognize that each of your opinions is derived from a single world view shaped by a lifetime of experiences, and that all thoughts on what is right or wrong, intelligent or stupid, safe or risky are really on a continuum of morality, intelligence, and risk. There are people who think riding a bike is moronic due to the difference in protection between a bike and a car. Some people jump bikes hundreds of feet over cars through flaming circles. And some people just plug along on their motorcycles enjoying the motorway and getting there when they get there. I am just one more person who hasn't chosen any of those particular options, and was curious how many others out there chose like me.

Personally, I've certainly gone over the speed limit and I've sped while in traffic. However, I've never darted in and out of traffic or split adjacent vehicles. It certainly looks thrilling, but it's something that I would never do. I don't trust the other drivers to anything that I want them to.

Of course, I don't bounce back the way I could when I was younger either.

<edit> With that said, I am taking the first level of the California Superbike School this October at Laguna Seca. If these classes weren't held on a private track with no traffic and very little chance of debris or oil, I'd never consider them.

I am very sorry to read about your wife. You both will be in my prayers.

One thing you have to remember is that if you do go down, it may not kill you. If a car does merge into you, you could end up staring at a celling for the next 10 years while someone else whips the drool off your face and changes your diaper. Just kind of keep that in mind. Like I said earlier, I can't preach as just yesterday I was running down every curvy country road I knew of at very illegal speeds.

If you want to have a lot of fun, try Quantumcat's idea of a track day or a track school. I think you would have a lot more fun hustling a bike around a track than cutting through traffic. There is a certain satisfaction in making a really good lap. Hitting every corner just right. Braking at just the right points. Getting that perfect drive out of every corner. It is a lot more fun than it looks and it will improve your street ridding as well as your confidence on the motorcycle.

Watching his vid kinda reminded me of this guy, but to a lesser degree.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCJGrLbzN9U

And Iceman, you gotta click the play button, and a spam ad will pop up, exit the ad, and then wait for the arrow to turn green, then click it again, and it will play.

I completely agree. M50Rider, I hope you kill yourself running off a bridge before you hurt or kill someone else. You don't deserve to ride if you're going to put other people's lives at risk for just a few thrills.

Hmmm there are plenty of things that I would like to say, but since most everyone else has already said it I'll leave it alone. All I'll say is this. When you live your life at such a point where you are no longer in control, but you are assuming the actions of others around will work in your favor, you will be let down. Others will always let you down. Wear your gear and please don't make the rest of our insurance prices go up...

Ok that's a bit harsh. Tone it down, or play elsewhere.

Not many.....because they don't last long.....for one reason or another.

The lane splitting/sharing "allowance" in California and other places never intended to allow for what you are doing in that video.....NEVER.

And finally, I really don't give a crap what you do to yourself because I don't know you, but if you wipe out on the freeway in heavy traffic there is a high probability that somebody else is going to crash too. You have no right to inflict your poor choices on others.

Done.
